Vietnam eVisa still "In Processing": what to do
Short answer: Standard processing is 3 working days, and weekends and Vietnamese public holidays don't count. Many "late" applications are actually still on time. If you're truly past 3 working days, check your status on the government portal, re-check your details, and plan around your flight date.

Step 1: Count the working days correctly
Start counting the day after your application and fee were received. Skip Saturdays, Sundays and Vietnamese public holidays. Applications are not processed during Tet (Lunar New Year) or other public holidays.
| Applied on | 3 working days ends (no holidays) |
|---|---|
| Monday | Thursday |
| Wednesday | Monday |
| Friday | Wednesday |
Applications can be submitted 24/7, but they're received Monday–Saturday and results are returned Monday–Friday. Holidays add days. Around Tet (Lunar New Year) and 2 September, expect longer.
Step 2: Check your status on the government site
Use the "E-visa search" page on evisa.gov.vn with your registration code, email and date of birth. If it's approved, print it; you need it to enter and leave.
Step 3: Re-check what you submitted
Applications with missing, wrong or unclear information are not accepted. Look at your confirmation for:
- Name typed exactly as the MRZ line (bottom of the passport page)
- Readable passport photo, MRZ not cropped
- Portrait looking straight, no glasses
- Correct passport number and dates
Step 4: Decide based on your flight
- Flight more than a week away: keep checking daily.
- Flight in a few days: you can't speed up a government decision yourself. You can contact Vietnam Immigration: Hanoi +84 24 3826 4026, Ho Chi Minh City +84 28 3920 0365, email [email protected].
- Flying tomorrow and still no eVisa: Airlines check entry documents before boarding and may refuse travel without a valid visa or exemption. Consider moving your flight.
